Leaders need to know how to manage, yet lead; managers need to know how to lead, yet manage.  Both must be confident to be successful within their organizations and teams.

Aliens in the Workplace: What Planet Are Your Co-Workers From?

Your workplace today is nothing like last year, or the previous decade.  Today’s workplace consists of more variables than managers and leaders envisioned just a few years ago.  It's as though Aliens have invaded the workplace!

Thriving with Change When Thriving Doesn’t Feel Like an Option

Program Information

Staboteurs in Your Midst…Dealing with the Pit Bulls, Snakes, Scorpions and Slugs in the Workplace

Every workplace has them—the pit bulls that hide behind lipstick and designer clothes; snakes who flick their abrasive tongue and voice and any and all, the scorpions who sting you with a slap of their heavy backhand and the slugs…those who are just there and breathing. The effect is that huge amounts of money are lost in productivity, turnover related costs and patient safety factors.

Based on 9 national studies released in Zapping Conflict in the Health Care Workplace, The Briles Report on Women in Health Care, Woman to Woman: From Sabotage to Support. And the forthcoming book, Is There a Staboteur in Your Midst?… Pit Bulls, Snakes, Scorpions and Slugs in the Workplace

Participants will learn how to effective deal with the bad boys and girls of the workplace.

The Mini Workplace Package

Educational and Training Directors often say that there isn’t enough time in the workplace to do a workshop—employees can’t take extended time off during their workday.  If that’s an issue, consider do a Mini Package of Programs—you pick from the extensive list of programs that I presently do, I’ll condense them into a day of 30 minute “bites”—staff and managers view them as extended breaks…attendance is high…and everyone comes away with a few nuggets that can be immediately implemented in their workplace.

What's Holding You Back . . . Maybe You?

Everyone experiences traps and snares in their career and personal lives. Sometimes, others create or influence them; sometimes, you do. It's called self-sabotage.

This workshop reveals the top 10 types of behavior that can restrict career moves and 10 ways to eliminate them.

When Women Work with Women: From Sabotage to Support

Women are unique . . . and they use unique factors in communicating, dealing with and creating conflict. Do women undermine other women? Yes. Are their saboteurs in your midst? Most likely. You'll learn why, how and ways to change a toxic workplace and confront saboteurs in the midst. Judith Briles pioneering work in this area was first published in 1987 in Woman to Woman: From Sabotage to Support, the winner of the Chicago Tribune's Business Book of the Year.

Zapping Red Ink Behavior . . . the Curse of the Workplace

Attendees will learn what the contributing factors of Red Ink Behavior are; why there are unique differences in female dominated workplaces that enhance Red Ink Behavior; and how to carefront another who creates Red Ink Behavior.  What is Red Ink Behavior? Simply this--the working manners, habits and styles that can directly and negatively impact the bottom line of any department or organization.

The program is highly interactive. Participants are randomly selected to act/play a variety of behaviors that are identified as Red Ink worthy.  They learn how to determine the cost of tolerating behavior and how a Red Ink Behavior Creator in the Midst really impacts them.

This presentation is highly interactive and involves audience participation. Ideal for leadership and teambuilding tracks.  Workshop format.

Zapping Conflict from A to Z

Every workplace has its fill of Conflict Creators (the Bats), Saboteurs in the Midst (the Pit Bulls) and those Sluggers who are waiting for the retirement bell (even if it’s five years away). The effect is the huge amount of money lost in productivity and turnover. Based on 8 national studies released in Zapping Conflict in the Health Care Workplace and Woman to Woman: From Sabotage to Support, Dr. Judith Briles identifies ways to deal with the bad boys and girls of the workplace.

Health care is unique because of its gender dominance, practicing cultures that do not mirror the written mission of the organization, and the wild card – the patient.  Participants are taught how to identify the initial problem, its underlying causes, the impacts, and the effects on patient satisfaction and the bottom line.  Finally, solutions are delivered to zap conflict. Based on Zapping Conflict in the Health Care Workplace, a 2003 Nurses Book Society selection.

Keep the Keepers…Lose the Losers

Retention is the key to any recruitment program.  Too often, hospitals have created a “bait and switch” strategy to recruit new hires.  The secret is not in adding numbers, but in creating an environment and culture that keeps and attracts the best while eliminating marginal employees.  Creating cultural changes and reducing conflict-inducing behaviors are key factors in keeping your keepers.  This program shows you where to start and gives you the tools to keep going toward the goal of “Employer of Choice – of Choice Employees.
