Designed
exclusively for the frontline manager of five years or less
experience in the health care workplace Too often, managers are promoted with minimal, if any, training in "How
To Be A Manager." The Judith Briles Health Care Leadership
Forum delivers an intensive training that focuses on
developing the soft people skills that just don't come naturally:
- Emotional intelligence
- Confidence-building techniques
- Effective communications, including communicating across
generations
- Mentoring others
- Conflict management and resolution
- Change management
- An understanding of financial impacts resulting from
management decision or indecision
- The manager's role as a change catalyst and a visionary leader
- Resolving staff retention issues
- Identifying and dealing with red-ink behavior
None of these skills just happen, nor are they acquired
overnight. And, contrary to popular practice, they are not learned
by osmosis either. They must be taught...
Poor management skills
negatively affect the workplace and the bottom line:
In a recent health care study, 45% of participants reported that
they had quit a position because of abusive behavior from their
managers!
The goal of the Forum
is to create an environment where new managers can learn a variety
of soft skills that can be implemented immediately
The end result is the creation of a workplace of choice, high
retention and minimal conflict. Case studies are used to propel the
participants into a problem-solving mode. Each one brings their own
situations to the Forum; unifying stories that transcend differences
in the room.
Within the Forum's
comfortable, intimate environment, strong bonds develop between
participants over the two days that last a career lifetime!
Regular sessions are held at the offices of Dr. Judith Briles
in Metro-Denver, Colorado and conducted by Judith.
Participants come from a cross-section of hospitals based
world-wide. Together the participants brainstorm using the following
learned devices, skills, tools and techniques:
- Truth-telling and truth-listening
- Using conflict as a resource for creative thinking
- Decreasing turf wars and ego battles
- Sharing resources effectively
- Leaving victim stories behind
- Building trust, compassion, and personal responsibility
The result is a long-term and expansive network of reliable
managers with whom they can connect, cross-coach and mentor.
Creating
Collaborative Behaviors for Bottom-Line Results
At the conclusion, participants will be prepared to apply their
newly-learned skills and start dealing with workplace issues that
are too often ignored and that lead to toxicity in the workplace.
They will be able to communicate, anticipate, troubleshoot, and
provide solutions - they will be able to manage!
