WINDTALKERS
with
Nicolas Cage, Christian Slater, Adam Beach and Roger Willie is based on the
non-breakable military code derived from the Navajos during World War II. Cage
as Sgt. Joe Enders is assigned to protect his code/windtalker at all costs,
including killing him if he's captured. Ditto for Slater's windtalker. It
could have been a good movie. The script is light and dull and the repeated
war scene after war scene gets old quickly. Go see Saving Private Ryan for
battles and save your money for another movie down the road that should
present this incredible story-I felt cheated. The Navajos, Beach and Willie,
are fine, they just need to tell it as it really was.
Who Should See It?
-Don't go if blood offends you and you want a rich story. Cage fans will
probably like, although I don't think war characters is his thing. Teens and
up-leave Gramma home.
2 Golden Eggs.

BOURNE IDENTITY
with
Matt Damon, Chris Copper and Franka Potente is a remake of the Richard
Chamberlain thriller based on Robert Ludlum's novel. Damon is Jason Bourne, an
undercover CIA agent with amnesia. The movie opens with a floating body
(Damon's) that is fished out of a stormy sea with two shots in his back. He
later hooks up with Potente as Marie Kreutz (a quasi-gyspy) to unravel the
mystery of who and what he is-a dude with a bunch of passports, big bucks in a
Swiss bank account and a guys after him. Cooper is a CIA officer who runs a
secret operative that arranges assignations and runs amok. Lots of action,
suspenseful.
Who Should See It?
--teens and up. If Gramma likes action movies and a budding romance, take her
too. 4 Golden Eggs.
